Motion framework for large-screen, performance-constrained devices

From 2020 to 2022, I served as the motion design lead for Amazon Fire TV, working full-time on the platform’s ten-foot user experience across a wide range of devices. My role focused on defining how motion functions at scale, shaping a cohesive system that could support millions of users while remaining clear, performant, and accessible from across the room.

I partnered closely with product designers, engineers, researchers, voice designers, and product managers to define and document the UX motion framework used across the Fire TV device lineup. A key challenge was designing motion that felt polished and expressive while accounting for significant differences in hardware capabilities, from high-end devices to lower-cost hardware with limited performance. This required simplifying and adapting motion patterns without losing clarity, hierarchy, or intent.

In addition to shaping the system itself, I contributed to product vision through exploratory motion studies and vision work, helping teams align on how motion could support navigation, content discovery, and voice interactions. The result is a scalable motion framework that brings consistency and cohesion to the Fire TV experience across devices, surfaces, and interaction models.

The work shown includes both a sizzle reel highlighting the breadth of motion across the platform and a system-focused walkthrough demonstrating how individual animations work together as a unified, production-ready framework.
