Biofeedback-driven UX motion & game design for a connected health device

Hinge Health partnered with Perifit to introduce a software-connected pelvic floor trainer that provides real-time biofeedback during pelvic floor exercises. The challenge was helping users understand invisible muscle activity in a way that felt intuitive, motivating, and clinically meaningful.

I worked on the game design and motion systems for the experience, focusing on how motion could translate internal muscle contractions into clear, readable feedback. The core interaction maps squeeze and release to an animated game environment, where an orb responds in real time to a user’s pelvic floor movements, allowing them to capture targets, improve coordination, and build strength through short, engaging sessions.

I designed the full motion language for the experience, including animations, transitions, feedback states, and timing, then partnered closely with engineering to ensure the motion translated accurately into a production-ready React Native implementation. The final concept was presented to leadership as a vision video and later shipped on the device.

The result is a gamified training experience that turns a traditionally abstract and difficult exercise into something understandable, motivating, and effective, helping members build confidence in their form while delivering measurable health outcomes.
